About St Christopher’s Cottage

cc_loungeSt Christopher’s Cottage is a spacious two-bedroom holiday home, renovated and furnished to a high standard throughout but keeping its original Cornish charm.

We fell in love with the cottage when we first saw it in Spring 2017, despite the ivy growing through the windows and peeling wallpaper.

Underneath we could see the cottage’s original 1850s features just waiting to be rediscovered – a Delabole slate floor in the kitchen, beautiful sash windows and thick stone walls.

The cottage was being reclaimed by nature when we bought it

We soon started renovating it, keeping or reinstating original features and modernising sympathetically, keeping the cottage’s original character.

The kitchen has a wine cooler, dishwasher and a range cooker in the old fireplace

We have put in underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, opened up the kitchen, front room and stairs to make an airy living space and installed a range cooker and a wine chiller.

We kept the original sash windows

We remodelled the master bedroom to make it a more useable space and replaced the roof, converting the loft into a twin bedroom filled with light.

Exposing the stonework in the loft bedroom

We created a large family bathroom with walk-in shower and freestanding bath; and turned the former bathroom into a second sitting room with French windows on to the garden.

We opened for guests with Classic Cottages in August 2019, do take a look if you would like to stay!
